In the statement, Microsoft announced that it "is considering and has raised with Yahoo! an alternative that would involve a transaction with Yahoo! but not an acquisition of all of Yahoo!"
The statement also advises that "Microsoft is not proposing to make a new bid to acquire all of Yahoo! at this time, but reserves the right to reconsider that alternative depending on future developments and discussions that may take place with Yahoo! or discussions with shareholders of Yahoo! or Microsoft or with other third parties."
What's Microsoft's new plan?
Confirmed details of the new plan are yet to surface; however the Wall Street Journal reports (from "people familiar with the matter") that Microsoft has proposed an arrangement in which the Redmond giant would sell advertisements that would be displayed next to Yahoo! search results. Could this be in an effort to combat the possible deal between Yahoo! & Google?
We will continue to keep you posted on any new information that comes to hand. In the meantime, feel free to let us know what you think of the new plan from Microsoft by leaving a comment below.
